Faces of Boyd: Bill Wilson
Fabricator
A Boyd Family Member Since 2007
Meet Bill Wilson, a long-time team member whose quiet expertise keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes at Boyd Sign Systems. Bill is the master of all things vinyl. He runs our plotter, cuts and weeds all vinyl and is often the first line of quality control. Since joining Boyd in November 2007, he’s brought not only precision to his work — but a calming presence to the shop floor.
On any given day, you’ll find Bill setting up files, processing vinyl and prepping screen films and managing fine details that are crucial to each job’s success. While the projects may seem similar on the surface, he sees value in consistency and enjoys solving problems early so they don’t become bigger issues later. “I enjoy correcting errors before they work themselves downstream,” he said — a nod to the care and experience that comes from decades in the industry.
Bill’s favorite tools? “My hands and mind when they cooperate.” It’s this balance of physical work and critical thinking that keeps him engaged. After leaving the food service industry in 1981, he “fell into” signage — and found a place where his curiosity and reliability could thrive. When asked what advice he’d give to someone just starting out, he said: “Keep an open mind and continue to learn.”
Bill may be modest about the projects he’s worked on, saying “They’re all the same to work on,” but his perspective shifts when it comes to the people behind the signs. “I’ve already had the pleasure to work on projects that I considered dream projects — and found that the people I worked with made the project a dream.”
When he’s off the clock, Bill enjoys reading—and keeping his coffee cup full.
We’re grateful for the leadership, quiet excellence, and thoughtful mentorship that Bill brings to our team every day. He’s a true example of what makes Boyd special.
